Tapping into your unbounded creativity may seem like something probably only famous artists do. However, your creativity is inside you. Remember, unbounded creativity doesn’t mean that you are going to be a famous author or famous painter; it just means that you can find a way to tap into your creativity when you need it.
1. Turn Up the Music – The first step in letting your creativity lose when you’re not feeling it is to do something that does feel it. Turn on the music and really listen. Really grove to the music. Say the words. Feel the emotions you felt the first time you heard the song.
2. Journal – Right after you turn on the music, get out your journal. If you focus on writing in your journal in a positive way, it will help trigger your creativity. A great type of journaling to investigate is a “bullet journal” which will help you do this faster and more effectively.
3. Doodle, Draw and Color – Anytime you want to be creative, do something creative – even if it’s silly. Adult coloring books are a great way for people who aren’t really that artistic to do something that triggers the same parts of the brain that an artist triggers when working.
4. Get Out into Nature – There is just something about getting your bare feet onto the ground that will bring out your creativity. Feeling the air go through your hair and into your lungs, and smelling all the smells, will trigger your creativity.
5. Move More – If you’re often writing, painting, or doing other creative things, you may not be getting enough exercise. Being sedentary can be an impediment to creativity due to having poor blood flow and health. If you feel tired, take a break and walk fast outside when you can.
6. Tickle Your Funny Bone – They say that laughter is the best medicine and that would be completely true when it comes to helping trigger creativity. Watch comedy, talk to someone you know is funny, or look at some funny cat videos.
7. Keep Learning – Don’t stop learning. If you’re a painter, learn more about painting. If you’re a writer, learn more about writing. Whatever your creative skill is, dive into it and learn more about it so that you can apply it.
8. Find the Silence – Once in a while, the very best way to be more creative is silence. It’s super-hard to come by silence these days. You’ll need to turn off all your electronics and find a place that is quiet. One way to do this is to find sensorial deprivation chambers or pods. You’ll float in silence on highly salted water for up to an hour.
9. Set Up Your Work Area – Your work area needs to be set up properly to ensure that you have the things you need to be creative. If you need certain tools, a comfortable place to sit or stand, and other information, make sure you have it.
10. Schedule in Work Breaks – Don’t work for eight hours without stopping. The brain works in 90-minute increments; if you set the alarm to go off every 90 minutes while you’re working, then take a break to walk fast around your block, you’ll be much more creative throughout the day.
11. Try New Things – Even if you’ve done your work the same way every single time, consider trying new ways. For example, if you’re a writer who never uses outlines, try using an outline. If you’re a painter who has no plans before you look at the canvas, try planning first.
12. Understand There Is No Failure When Doing – One thing that interrupts creativity is the fear of failure. Realize that when it comes to being creative, there is no fail. Even if something turns out differently from how you thought it would, it doesn’t make it wrong.
Creativity is not something you have to wait for inspiration for, no matter how being creative is often presented. Think about the fact that some professions never have an off day. Surgeons don’t get operating block. Bakers don’t get baking blocks, and you can bet the stockbroker doesn’t have any stock blocks. There is no reason why you cannot unleash your unbounded creativity anytime you want to if you know how.
