We learn how to act as well as how not to behave from the role models we choose for ourselves. Role models ideally should serve as examples of the things we should be doing in our lives, or they can help us figure out how to solve problems or reach goals that are important to us.

The reason we like and need role models in our lives is that they are people who do something really well and who are worth imitating in our behaviors. A role model can be anyone you look up to or admire, and it should be someone who excels in areas of their life that are important to you. For example, if your goal is to become more assertive at work, then choosing a meek or passive person as a role model to emulate would not be the right choice.
